This video provides a short introduction to the PLECS RT Box and a demonstration of the workflow from converting an offline PLECS model to a real-time simulation. High-level specifications and the use cases for the platform are discussed and then the process of generating and uploading real-time capable C code for a solar inverter plant model is shown. A controller hardware-in-the-loop demo follows where the RT Box hosts a real-time model of the plant and an actual Texas Instruments microcontroller is connected to the box. With the model running, the PLECS External mode is enabled to visualize waveforms from the emulated system in the PLECS Scope. The PLECS model then becomes a test harness to interact with the online model and allows on the fly parameter tuning of both the controller and plant.
