If a model contains discrete control algorithms, can I still use variable-step operation?

Problem description:

I have controls running at a fixed-step, but I want to be able to simulate the electrical phenomena of the plant with variable-step since this is faster and more efficient. Is there a solution for a hybrid time step?

Solution:

Yes, both PLECS Blockset and Standalone offer variable-step solvers that accurately take simulation steps at the discrete control time steps in addition to the adaptive time-steps due to the power electronics system dynamics. No additional settings need to be configured.
